TaxList Version 1.1
(c) 1993 William Baumgardner
Post Office Box 691712
Jackson, MS 39269-1712
-----------------------------
System Requirements:
TaxList requires an IBM personal computer or compatible
with 640k of RAM. A hard drive is not necessary. A
color monitor is not required, but recommended due to
the use of color in certain procedures. At a minimum
TaxList will work off of one 720k floppy diskette or a
dual 360k system. Under no circumstances try to run
TaxList off of a single 360k diskette. The program and
its data files require somewhat more space than 360k.
Description:
TaxList is a fast intuitive program that maintains an
ordered list of tax related financial information to
make April 15 a little less painful. The program
allows the rapid entry of random data and sorts this
information in chronological order as it is entered.
The information can be entered piecemeal throughout the
year or it can be done at a single sitting.
TaxList produces two styles of sorted and formatted
reports on disk. If desired, the user can install the
MS-DOS spooling/printing utility, PRINT.COM, and print
the reports from within TaxList. In the alternative,
the user could print the reports at a later date.
TaxList uses a finite array to manage its records,
making all operations extremely fast. As currently
designed, the program has room for 1500 records.
If a mouse driver is detected, the program
automatically displays scroll bars and enables hot
spots for the mouse.
Files:
TaxList is compressed into a self-extracting archive
called TL.EXE. Before decompressing, make sure that
the disk with the compressed program is write
protected.
To decompress onto a hard drive, put the disk
containing the compressed program into a floppy drive,
eg. A. Change to the root directory of your hard drive
and create a subdirectory called TAXLIST, or other
name. Change to this new subdirectory and issue the
command "A:TL" without the quotes. TL.EXE will then
decompress into four files in the new subdirectory.
To decompress onto a 720k (or larger) floppy disk, copy
TL.EXE to clean formatted disk. Change to the drive
with the copy and issue the command "TL" without the
quotes. TL.EXE will then decompress into four files on
the new floppy.
To decompress on a dual 360k floppy system, put a clean
formatted disk in drive B. Put the disk with the
compressed program in drive A. Change to drive B and
issue the command "A:TL" without the quotes. TL.EXE
will then decompress into four files onto the disk in
drive B.
When TaxList is decompressed it will produce four
files, TAXLIST.EXE, TAXLIST.LIB, TAXLIST.DOC, and
READ.ME.
TAXLIST.EXE This is the main program file.
TAXLIST.LIB This is a small file containing the data
used by the entry/edit system. This
file should NOT be edited.
TAXLIST.DOC The user's manual.
READ.ME Contains instructions for printing
TAXLIST.DOC.
When the program executes the first time it will
produce a large (approximately 129k) data file called
TAXLIST.DAT. The size of TAXLIST.DAT remains constant
regardless of the number of records in it.
Shareware:
TaxList is shareware. If you like the program then
please register it by completing the registration form
in the user manual. Send the form and a $20.00 check
or money order to the author.
